mmortal. Vedaraniyar Weerasingham started this school in his own home with the aim of promoting vegetarianism and Tamil in the Mesala area. As the number of students gradually increased due to lack of space, he constructed spacious kennels at the current location of the school on Kandi road and established a Board of Trustees to continue running the school and manage the school.
In 1919, Veerasingana died of natural causes. After his death, the school administration was taken care of by the Board of Trustees. Due to their efforts, a school was formally established in Avani month 1926 with the name Veerasingam Saiva Vishitalai.

I warmly welcome you to Weerasingham Central College, Jaffna Meesal. As this college is about to celebrate its centenary in 2026, I am happy to thank all those who have helped in designing this website for the college.
As a 1AB category school, the college has achieved many successes in curricular and co-curricular activities and is operating with a distinction of its own. Keeping the Tamil culture and arts, the education of the students is not confined to the classroom, and more attention is given to developing personality traits through various co-curricular activities. In particular, Senjones Ambulance Brigade and Girl Scout Teams have been formed in recent times. Also, this year, the students have won English, Mathematics and Aesthetics competitions at the national level. They are making records.
It is noteworthy that the coordinated activities of our alumni associations operating locally and abroad also contribute to the effective functioning of the school.
